Few things irritated me more than the press given to the statement “Practice random acts of kindness.” I thought it the most anti-Christian statement possible. You nailed it. Practice deliberate acts of kindness!
No way I can use everything God has blessed me with. After 70 years I've come to realize that "I have come so that you can have life and have it abundantly" isn't just some nice scripture to quote. It is evident in my every day life every day. But here is the problem. When a challenge or problem arises it sticks out so much that it takes all of our attention and we lose sight of the little not so obvious 'good' things that happen.
We woke up
The sun rose - even it it's behind clouds, it's there.
We have air to breath
Eyes that see
Hearts that beat
Hearts that love and are loved
New babies born into our life.
Fresh fallen beautiful snow.
So much, and everyday
thank you Lord for all the blessings. Thank you Meshach for your continued thinking, writing and praising of God.
Amen brother. Your post reminded me of the words, “The steadfast love of the Lord never fails me; His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning… great in thy faithfulness.”
Love this and agree! Deliberate acts of kindness for the win. Your post also reminds me of a quote I just stumbled across from Jimmy Carter:
“My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have, to try to make a difference.”
How have I never heard that! Adding it to the quotes collection!
I loved your message today and thank you for always lifting me up!!

Random acts of kindness irritated me too!
Here’s to a more deliberately kind 2025. It will have to start with us. I enjoyed your post and this line stayed with me:
“The world needs deliberate goodness—more simple, meaningful, timely, and thoughtful deeds that reveal God’s glory.”
Amen brother.
I also loved your dad‘s saying. I will quote this in the four journals I am keeping and writing for my grandchildren.
A journal to the grandkids is a great idea!!! Happy New Year, sister!
I love your Dad's saying. I'm with you, Pastor!

Totally agree about doing spirit-lead small acts of kindness and love. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Happy New year, Martha!
